ALMA BERNHEIM
Mother and homemaker

Alma Bernheim, a San Francisco resident who maintained a home on Corinthian Island in Belvedere for many years, died at home in San Francisco on Saturday, Nov. 17, 1990. She was 90.

Mrs. Bernheim was the wife of the late Jules H. Bernheim, a prominent San Francisco businessman.

A native of Santa Barbara, Mrs. Bernheim graduated from Mills College in 1921, and received a graduate degree in merchandising from Simmons College in Boston. She came to San Francisco in 1922, and married Mr. Bernheim in 1923. The following summer, the Bernheims rented what is now the China Cabin in Belvedere for $35 a month.

The Bernheims bought their house on Corinthian Island in 1937, and Mrs. Bernheim continued to visit her home there weekly until shortly before her death.

She was a member of St. Francis Woods Garden Club; the San Francisco Garden Club; and the San Francisco Yacht club.

Mrs. Bernheim is survived by a son, Robert Bernheim of Belvedere; a daughter, Nancy Bernheim Rodgers of Belvedere; and four grandchildren.

Memorial services will be private. The family asks that contributions be made to the San Francisco Symphony, Davies Symphony Hall, 201 Van Ness Ave., San Francisco, CA. 94102; or to the charity of choice.
