DOROTHY BATEMAN
A memorial service for Dorothy Newton Bateman, a former resident of San Rafael, will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Burlingame, on Easton Drive and the El Camino Real.
Mrs. Bateman died Saturday in a San Mateo County Hospital following a long illness. She was 61.
A native of Arkansas, Mrs. Bateman lived in San Rafael for 15 years before moving to San Mateo six years ago.
She was an active bridge player in both the Bay Area and Orange County.
Mrs. Bateman is survived by her daughter, Carol Bateman Zent of San Mateo; her son, Robert Bateman of Mill Valley; one grandson, Christopher Zent of San Mateo; her sister, Ruth Boles of Loma Rica in Yuba County and two brothers, William Newton of Irving, Texas and George Newton of Texarkana, Texas.
The family prefers memorial contributions to the charity of your choice.
