RETA L. PALLISTER
Cake decorator
Reta L. Pallister, a longtime Mill Valley resident active in community affairs, died Sunday, Nov. 18, 1990, at Rafael Convalescent Hospital at the age of 90.
She was born in Canada where she owned and operated her own business school. She moved to Southern California in 1958 and to Mill Valley in 1968.
Before moving to the Rafael hospital two years ago, she had lived and played bridge at The Redwoods retirement center in Mill Valley.
One of her hobbies was cake decorating, for which she entered competitions. One of her specialties was a pink champagne cake for anniversaries or other celebrations that included a bottle of champagne and frosting decorated with pink elephants.
Mrs. Pallister was a member of the Mill Valley Rebekah Lodge, Mill Valley Seniors, Tamalpais Women’s Club and Icing Artist of Marin.
She is survived by a daughter, Louise M. Kuret of San Rafael; a son, John E. Pallister Jr. of Wauseon, Ohio; a sister, Thelma Preiss of Marquette, Mich.; and six grandchildren. Her husband, John E. Pallister, died in 1966.
A memorial service will be 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Russell and Gooch mortuary in Mill Valley. A private burial will be in Live Oak Memorial Park cemetery, Monrovia, Los Angeles County.
The family prefers memorial donations to the Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders Association, Marin Chapter, 234 San Pedro Road, San Rafael, 94903.

A Death Notice in the same paper mentions her son-in-law, Marvin Kuret of San Rafael, and lists her grandchildren: James Treadwell, Jennifer Kuret-Nadeau, Richard, Ronald, Becky and Misty Pallister.
