A full peace officer’s funeral for Sonoma Deputy Sheriffs Brent Charles Jameson and Bliss Steven Magly will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Christian Life Center, Santa Rosa.

Jameson and Magly were killed Thursday when their helicopter crashed near the Sonoma County Airport.

Jameson, 30, was a Petaluma native and graduated from St. Vincent’s High School. He was also a graduate of Santa Rosa Junior College and attended University of San Francisco.

Jameson began his law enforcement career as a patrolman for the Novato Police Department from July, 1971 to July 1974. He then joined the Sonoma County Sheriffs Department. He had worked from 1975 to 1979 as resident deputy for the Sonoma Coast.

Jameson was reassigned to the main office in 1978 and became an observer on the helicopter patrol. He was named as a pilot last year.

His service on the helicopter patrol had brought him more than 20 letters of commendation fro a variety of agencies.

He is survived by his wife, Marcille Jameson of Santa Rosa, his parents, Darol R. and Veva Jameson of Petaluma; a sister, Mary Jameson of San Rafael; a brother, Stephen Jameson of Monterey; and his grandmothers, Hilda Stromberg and Wilma Jameson, both of Petaluma.

Magly, 26, was born in Oakland and moved to Santa Rosa with his parents in the mid-1960s. He was a graduate of Montgomery High School and Santa Rosa Junior College.

Magly joined the Sheriffs department in May, 1977 and was assigned to the Sonoma Valley substation. He was transferred to the main office patrol division in 1978 and began work last year as an observer in the helicopter program.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy E. Magly of Santa Rosa; his parents, Bliss and Phylis Magly of Santa Rosa; two sisters, Marlene Magly of Santa Rosa and Brook Magly of Redding; and a brother, Beau Magly of Santa Rosa.

Intombment (sic) for Jameson will be at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Petaluma. Inurnment for Magly will be private.

Death notices for both men were printed in the same paper. Brent Jameson was the son-in-law of Pico and Bea Barella of Healdsburg, and Magly was the son-in-law of Arvo and Margaret Ulnila of Willits and grandson of May Bonsey and Bob Waldmann and great-nephew of Lois Downey, all of Sonoma.
