Brevities
William Mersmelder, a prominent resident of Sausalito, died after a short illness at his beautiful home, “Rosemont,” last week. Heart failure is assigned as the cause of death. The funeral was held Thursday last, in San Francisco, and was attended by many friends and acquaintances of the deceased.

Wm. Mersfelder Passes Away
The news of the death of William Mersfelder on Tuesday morning came as a shock barbed with pain and sorrow to the residents of Sausalito and a feeling of great sympathy went forward to his bereaved.

Mr. Mersfelder, accompanied by his warm friend, Fred King, started out in a launch after salmon last Sunday. Mersfelder, before reaching the trolling grounds complained about feeling unwell and they returned home. On Tuesday morning he passed away at his beautiful home – Rosemont. Mr. Mersfelder, while not feeling in the best of health for some time, was always very attentive to his business. The funeral took place Thursday afternoon and his remains were interred in Cypress Lawn Cemetery.

Mr. Mersfelder was born in Stockton in 1867 and has been a resident here for many years. He was secretary of the Merchants’ Ice and Cold Storage Company for many years. He enjoyed outdoor sports, especially on the water, and was an active and enthusiastic member of the San Francisco Yacht Club and several fraternal organizations. He was quiet and unassuming, always making permanent friends by his pleasing and hospitable manners.

He was the beloved husband of Isabel Mersfelder, son of Mrs. Charles Mersfelder, father of Genevieve Mersfelder, and brother of Charles, Jules, John and the late Edward Mersfelder, Mrs. G. S. Grinnagle and Mrs. George J. Ulrich.
