Stewart’s Will Gives Estate to Divorced Wife
Samuel J. Stewart, who died at a local hospital a few days ago, from injuries suffered two and a half months before in an automobile accident, bequeathed his entire estate to his divorced wife, Mrs. Bethie Stewart. The will, a brief holographic document, was written March 8, 1933, immediately following the accident. It names Mrs. Stewart his heir in event of his death. The estate, according to the petition for probate, is composed of $3000 personal property, $1400 cash in bank and a half interest in the business of Stewart and Davis, tea importing firm. Stewart resided in Belvedere. Gilbert Mullen, with whose car Stewart’s collided, causing the fatal accident, died the day following the crash.

A second will of Samuel Jay Stewart, tea importer, of Belvedere, who died as the result of injuries received in an automobile accident several months ago, was filed for probate in the superior court Friday. The will, written September 30, 1931, leaves his estate to his sister and brother in the East, giving $1 to his divorced wife, Mrs. Bethia Stewart.
A will written before his death at the Ross General Hospital left everything to Mrs. Stewart, but the will was denied by Judge Edward I. Butler.
Stewart’s estate, under the new will, goes to his sister, Mrs. R. A. Sherwood, of Chicago, and brother, F. E. Stewart, of Yonkers, N. Y. The estate is valued at about $3000.
