Generous Bequests By Late Merchant
The will of the late Lorenzo H. Sweeney, disposing of nearly $100,000 was filed for probate Tuesday in the Superior court.
Requesting that the Union Trust Company of San Francisco be appointed executor without bonds, and that Frank P. Deering, of San Francisco, be named as its attorney, the deceased set forth the following bequests:
Miriam Snow Merrick, Magog, Canada, $10,000; Maud A. Meserve, Los Angeles, $30,000, and the contents of the residence at Mission and Irwin streets, San Rafael; May Boswell Jones, cousin and wife of Hugh B. Jones, of San Rafael, $10,000; $2,000 each to Mrs. Ella Sweeney, Honolulu, Alice Gifford, Honolulu, Dr. A. H. Sweeney, Fresno, Mrs. Chas. I. Crowell, San Francisco; American National Red Cross, St. Joseph’s Episcopal Church, Magog, Canada; and Pine Hill Cemetery Association, of the same place; $1,000 each to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, San Rafael, Maria Kipp Orphanage, San Francisco, Presbyterian Orphanage, San Anselmo, Children’s Hospital, San Francisco, Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, and the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children, both of San Francisco, and Mary W. Oliver; to William Hansen and William Jordan, employees of Dodge-Sweeney & Co., $1,000 and $2,000, respectively; San Rafael Emergency Corps, $500, Henry Cull, $1,000, and, in trust for Mylly Herrick, $10,000.
