Eastern Kin Win Novato Estate
The Supreme Court last Tuesday rendered a decision in the matter of the estate of the late John L. Sullivan, former resident of Novato, where he owned a small ranch.
The higher court reversed the ruling of the Marin County Superior Court and ordered distribution of the estate, valued at about $1250, to Dennis Sullivan and Mrs. Annie Sullivan Glennon, brother and sister of the deceased, in Boston.
The deceased died a few years ago while on a visit to friends in San Francisco, leaving no will. The local court held with the Public Administrator here that the claims made by the eastern relatives were not sufficiently substantiated and they were denied. Several hearings were had and affidavits were secured from the brother and sister. Witnesses were called who had known Sullivan in San Francisco and in Novato. It was testified that Sullivan stated many times that he was a cousin of the famous pugilist of the same name.
