Dead Man Used Flowerpot As Bank
The estate of James Martin, for a number of years a Mill Valley nurseryman, and former Alaskan miner, was enriched yesterday by the finding of $1300 in a flowerpot overlooked by Public Administrator J. Ray Keaton following the man’s death two months ago.
The money was discovered by Mrs. Frank Thomas, residing near the Martin house in Mill Valley, when she was assisting the caretaker in placing the contents of the cottage in order. The caretaker handed Mrs. Thomas a flower pot from among many others on a top shelf. Mrs. Thomas casually turned the pot upside down, precipitating a shower of coins and bills over the floor at her feet. She communicated immediately with the Public Administrator, who took charge of the money. Martin, so far as Keaton has been able to ascertain, had no living relatives.
