Will of Belle Brown Is Filed for Probate

The will of the late Belle C. Brown, Larkspur city treasurer, and widely known former teacher in the San Rafael schools, who died December 12, has been filed for probate in the Superior Court. Her holographic will was written March 12, 1936, with a codicil attached on November 22, 1939. The instrument calls for distribution among organizations, churches, individual relatives and friends, of $3,490.

A petition for letters was also filed by Alice McCormick of Larkspur, the petitioner stating that the estate does not exceed $10,000.

The will, after naming the bequeathes, says the residue is to be shared by cousins, Mrs. Mae Morrow Martinelli, Larkspur; William T. Morrow, Mrs. Margaret Utrecht, Vallejo; William Bickerstaff, Mill Valley; Edmund Bickerstaff, Mill Valley.

Bequests to organizations are Little Sisters of the Poor, San Francisco, $500; St. Patrick’s Church, Larkspur, $250; Marin County Historical Society, tapestry formerly owned by deceased’s sister, Mary A. Brown; $100 for care and maintenance of the valuable piece. The Larkspur Women’s Club receives $100, and the Marin County Red Cross, $50.

Bequests to individuals in the will are: Archbishop of San Francisco, $500; Mrs. Marie C. Fleming, Larkspur, $50; Mrs. Mary A. Perks, Larkspur, $50; Mrs. Margaret Perks, San Francisco, $100; Mrs. Ruth Lewis, Larkspur, $100; Mrs. Teresa Hoey, San Francisco, $100; Mrs. Mabel Stephens, Larkspur, $100.

Miss Brown also left Chief of Police, W. V. Nicholson, of Larkspur, $50; Mrs. Mary Eastman, Corte Madera, $50; Mrs. Mary L. Courtright, Larkspur city clerk, $40, also Napoleon bed and blue pitcher; Mrs. Mary McNahoe, Corte Madera, furniture; Father Christopher C. Crowley, Larkspur, $250; Gardiner de Veuve, Larkspur, $250; Ede de Veuve, Larkspur, $250; William T. Morrow, Larkspur, cousin, $250; Margaret H. McKenna, cousin, $250; also deceased’s automobile; Miss Marion Dodd, Larkspur, $100.
