Ex-Hub Doctor’s Wife Leaves $26,000 Estate

Mrs. Malcolm Hoffman, wife of a former San Anselmo abortionist, leaves a $16,000 San Anselmo home and at least $10,000 in securities, according to letters of administration filed in Marin Superior Court this week.

Jacqueline Hoffman was found dead last Aug. 30 in Tijuana, where she had lived with Malcolm Hoffman and their three children. A report of her death, filed by Mexican authorities, hints at possible violence but does not explain the cause of death.

According to the district attorney in Tijuana, Mrs. Hoffman, about 43, was found lying on the bed, wearing a dress but no shoes. They report finding a “strong stain of what appeared to be blood” on the bed.

Judge Harold J. Haley, sitting in Marin Superior Court, appointed the Hibernia Bank of San Francisco as administrator of the estate. Marin attorney Harold W. Tobin represents the bank.

The petition for administration lists Mrs. Hoffman’s estate as including a $16,000 home at 33 Calumet avenue, San Anselmo, and notes, bonds and cash. Heirs are the former doctor and his three children, Michael Lee, 17; Gerald Lee, 12, and Merilee, 10.

Mrs. Hoffman also is survived by a sister, Mrs. Lee Swan, in Seattle. Attorney Tobin said he has information to believe that Mrs. Hoffman left at least $10,000 in stocks and bonds with her sister.

Hoffman, 55, pleaded guilty in 1949 to an abortion conspiracy. He was paroled after serving time in San Quentin Prison.
