I, James Stoddart Porteous of the County of Marin and the State of California, do hereby make, publish and declare this to be my last W ill and Testament, and I do hereby expressly revoke all other wills by me made. I hereby give, bequeath and devise all my property real, personal and mixed of which I shall die seized or possessed or in or to which my estate shall or may have any interest, and wheresoever the same may be situated to my beloved wife Janet Porteous she to have and hold the same and all thereof for her own use, benefit and behoof forever. And I hereby nominate, constitute and appoint my said wife, Janet Porteous the sole Executrix of this my last will and testament and I direct that no bonds or other security be required of her.

I witness whereof I have hereunto signed my name and affixed my seal this first day of February A.D. one thousand eight hundred and eighty seven.

Janet Porteous, widow of decedent and sole devisee, came into court and said James died 6 February 1887 at his residence in Marin County. He left property both real and personal in Marin County and in the city and county of San Francisco. The real estate is valued at about $145,500 and monthly rental of said real estate amounts to about $784.00. Personal property is valued at about $17,550. This information provided to her by N. D. Anderson, custodian of the property.
