There was a newspaper article in the San Francisco Chronicle mentioned the British Liner's maiden visit: San Francisco Chronicle, Friday, 11 April 1958, page 5. Successive issues and/or other newspapers would probably have more coverage.

p.s. How did I find this? The San Francisco Main Library's Newspaper Center has newspaper indexes. Although they don't list *every* article ever printed, it is a good place to start.
