I would recommend that your first stop be the San Francisco Public Library - Newspaper center. I would first check the various City Directories. Often you will see the owner's names listed with the businesses. Second, I would see if any businesses were written up in the local newspapers. The library has indexes. They aren't complete, but they just might have your business listed.
