St. Boniface church, the City's German National Church from the Gold Rush to WWI, is celebrating 150 years in 2010. The original church was a second-hand wrought iron building set up on Sutter bet. Kearny/Montgomery in 1860. It sat several block south of the full-swing Barbary Coast. One can imagine how many Sunday mornings-after were spent repenting for the night before. Our history is beautifuly documented up to 1960. I am looking for personal recollections and any other material about the Tenderloin, the parish, the school, the neighborhood from 1960-1990, etc.
Some great pics of the architectural interior of St. Boniface can be found at:http://stbonifacesf.org/
As I get more material digitized I will expand the hitroy section of the website.
Thank you and God bless.
