: Does anyone know what name was on Gump's building prior to it becoming"Gump's" ?
Just browsing on the web, on Gump's history page:
"Gump's newest home is a 1910 landmark, located just east of Union Square at 135 Post Street, with entrances on both Post Street and Maiden Lane."
It may have been a new building after the 1906 disaster?
According the 1900 Sanborn Map, there was a "H. Liebes & Co.-Furs" at that address. But, H. Liebes had moved by 1907 out to Van Ness. Gump's was at 1645 California in 1907.
