: What was the Ingleside Track in San Francisco? Probably existed between 1870 and 1900. I understand that Michael J. Donovan was part owner of it.
I have two interesting connections to this area. 1) I lived on Urbano drive from 1951-1958.
2) My Great Uncle, John Clark Boyle married Geraldine G. Donovan, daughter of Michael J. Donovan. He was one of the first Irish born State Senators of California [circa 1875] He went around and secured leases for all areas that might compete with the Ingleside, had a shill board of directors incorporate Ingleside...and finally got approval...except betting on dog races was never approved even though an argument was made that it was a cultural need of the irish to relax. After Michael J. Donovan, Gertrude and her brother Vincent ended in a bitter lawsuit with their evil stepmother...they were awared the worthless stock in the ingleside race track.
I am still attempting to locate what hapdened to Geraldine G. Donovan. Michael J. Donovan was buried in Hanford, Kings Co where he had property.
