Hello,
According to many articles (published after the fact),Colin Robertson SINCLAIR, a sea captain, was "harbor master" in the 1870s, in SF.
I would be very interested in more ... What sources are available in SF on that position ?
Colin Robertson SINCLAIR (1816-1901) was a native of Oxford House, Manitoba, where he retired in the late 19th century. He was single, a son of William SINCLAIR, chief factor of the Hudson's Bay Company, and of Margaret Nahovway, and a brother of James SINCLAIR (1811-1856)who led parties of Métis emigrants to Oregon (see D. G. Lent, West of the mountains: James Sinclair and the Hudson's Bay Company, Seattle, Wash., 1963).
Many thanks for your help !
