I am an author of historical fiction interested in the attempted gun-running by Confederate sympathizers onboard the "Chapman" in 1862 out of SF harbor. The three ringleaders of the scheme--Asbury Harpending, Ridgley Greathouse, and Alfred Rubery--were found guilty of high treason although later released. What might be a good source for more information about this attempted piracy?
