On outer Mission Street a Civil War nurse named Minerva had a home which was in the way of developing an underpass below RR tracks. She refused to move, and the city developed the 'cut' to get to the cemeteries in Colma they had to build a monumental staircase up the cliff to Minerva's home. She was around 100 years old, as I recall. I never knew her surname. Does anyone know more information about this lady?
