You might think about North Beach for other reasons, but there were many fine restaurants there. I remember some of them when my family would go, and we would be silent or taken out of the restaurant - not like today, and really scarf down the Salami and the olives.

Ah, the Flower of Italy. My cousin Kathy married into the Nebbi family and they owned the oldest Italian restaurant west of the Mississippi. They had offers to buy them out but they put covenants on the property that it had to be used for an Italian eatery (and, not Chinese or other ethnic place).
