But that is not the reason for reacting, it was Foster's - also known as Fosteers the Famous French Restaurant, otherwise known as the Tile Room. Toasted English Muffins and Tuna Fish. Not that stuff we get in the cans today (but I am sure their's came in cans) but large chunks of white meat slathered in butter that dripped down your sleeve while you munched on it.

Yes, that was the stuff of wonderment.

Used to go over to Bernstein's, the place on Powell that had the Ship's "pointy end" and have either a real crab louis or a bowl of crab chowder. There were some really good eating places at reasonable prices, that at least I could afford with a family and going to grad school.
