How fortunate you were, Randy! I lived in the Richmond and if I opened my bedroom window and the weather was right I could hear the strains of music from those free concerts in the park. Never got to go to one, though; my first SF concert was the SNACK [Students Need Art, Culture and Kicks] fundraiser at Kezar in 1975.
I look forward to the 40th anniv concert on Sep 2 with a mixture of anticipation and trepidation.
: Hi when I arrive in San Francisco in 1967 during the summer of love I was only 15 but what a amazing time to experience. I walked through the golden gate park one day and by accident ran into a concert call being then with Janis Joplin Greatfull Dead ,Jefferson starship and its a beautiful day playing fro free all day long.
: Boy it was like a mini Woodstock hippies /drugs /hells angles /people making love on the grass, people running around naked and everyone partying and getting along until the sun went down. What a amazing influence on me I went to almost every Fillmore and winter land concert and many free ones in the park and then started working for Bill Graham Presents . Now I am semi retired photo journalist work every rock n roll concert didn't realize my photos work be worth a small fortune today. See at rockpublication.com. take care have a beautiful it only goes around once.
