Janice Tillman Cline

Janice Tillman Cline, was one of the historic company of the daughters of California pioneers of the memorable year 1849. She was born and died in the Victorian home her grandfather, Frank Tillman, built for her mother. (His bio viewable at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~npmelton/sfbtil.htm
Janice was born in San Francisco, on the 18th of January, 1914, and her death occurred at 2:10 PST April 24, 2008. She was the daughter of Jacob Maitland and Aimee Josephine Tillman Cline. Her father, Jacob, insured her right of passage as he descended from John A. Cline, of Pennsylvania, then one of the thirteen colonies. She lived her entire life in San Francisco, California and was never married. She and her sister, Josephine, who also never married, shared their home until her death in 1989.
After serving in the Red Cross, she returned to San Francisco, CA. and worked as a social worker to finished her career in service to the State of California.
Janice was venerable in years, and is one of the loved descendants of one of the pioneer women of San Francisco. She was an earnest communicant of the Catholic Church, as were her ancestors.
She is survived by her nieces, nephew, and spouses, Joanne Cline and Jerry Frazier, Deborah Cline and Joe Monaco, Louise Cline and Gregg Wright, and William and Josette Cline as well as 13 grandnephews and nieces and many great grandnephews and nieces.
Friends may visit on Monday, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Halstead N Gray – Careew & English, 1123 Sutter St., the wake will follow at 7 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 9:15 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Church (at the intersection of Green and Steiner). Internment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Colma.
