Paper Barrels – There are 100 men engaged in the paper barrel manufactory of FLINT, PEABODY & CO., of SAN FRANCISCO. Two of their barrels were “shipped to China and Japan, filled with sugar. They arrived at their places of destination in as good order as when shipped. The GOLDEN GATE MILLS made a test of one by filling it with hot plaster of Paris, which would almost set fire to wood, and the paper barrel was not even scorched.” They will hold liquor as well as flour.
