I remember attending a Seal's v. Boston Red Sox game in 1956 or 1957 with the cub scouts from Holy Name (The Seals were a farm team of the Red Sox and they played a single exhibition game). Ted Williams had one at bat and I recall being amazed with the "williams shift".
