Crash Kills SSF Father
A rain and mud-slicked proved fatal for a South San Francisco father of four Tuesday evening in Colma.
Emile A. Raffetto, 38, a meat cutter who lived at 2645 Wexford Drive, SSF, had his automobile skid on a muddy section of Junipero Serra Boulevard, spin out of control, cross over the double line and was then struck by a north-bound car driven by Delbert M. Pritchard of San Francisco. Another north-bound car, driven by Alex J. Buelna of South San Francisco, also struck Raffetto’s car.
Rafetto’s wife was following at a distance in another car and came upon the accident as the car was being towed away.
Deputy Coroner Robert Cole reported that rain had washed mud into a dip in the road but it wasn’t know whether Raffetto’s car went out of control or that he might have thought he was off the road and swerved.
It was the 69th county fatality this year.
