Naomi Luchetti

Naomi Luchetti, a 26-year Coastside resident, died Aug. 7 due to natural causes at Peninsula Medical Center in Burlingame. She was 82.

Mrs. Luchetti was born in Mayfield, Utah, into a family of eight children, and raised in Utah and Idaho. She lived briefly in Reno, Nev., where she married her husband, Earl Luchetti. They came to San Francisco in the late 1940s and then to San Mateo in 1950. Mrs. Luchetti came to Half Moon Bay in 1980.

For more than 20 years, Mrs. Luchetti worked for the San Mateo County school district, driving a van for physically disabled elementary school students. Upon her retirement in 1982, she provided day care out of her home, for elementary school-age children of working parents.

"She really watched a lot of them grow up over the years," said Mrs. Luchetti's daughter, Lorraine Redmond of Half Moon Bay.

Mrs. Luchetti also loved reading and visiting with family, her daughter said.

Mrs. Luchetti was preceded in death by her husband of 22 years, Earl Luchetti, who died in 1968.

She is survived by daughters Lorraine Redmond and Patricia Luchetti, both of Half Moon Bay, son David Luchetti of San Francisco, grandchildren John Redmond of Sweden, Josh Luchetti of Half Moon Bay, Christa Luchetti Herrera of San Bruno and Alicia Luchetti of Philadelphia, and great-grandchildren Jasmyn Luchetti and Donovan Herrera.

She is also survived by sisters Verla Burk of Washington, Rachel Parnell of North Carolina, Audrey Cornell of Utah and Georgia Davenport of Utah, and brother Richard Muffler of Idaho.

Mrs. Luchetti was laid to rest next to her husband at Holy Cross Cemetery in Colma. A celebration of her life will be held during the holidays later this year.
