Devon Andrews
Devon Andrews, who grew up on the Coastside, died Aug. 13 at his home in Greensboro, N.C., after a long illness. He was 24.
Mr. Andrews was born in San Mateo on Sept. 23, 1981. He grew up on the coast and attended Half Moon Bay High School, which he completed by getting his GED. He lived briefly in Southern California, and moved to Greensboro in 2004.
Mr. Andrews enjoyed fishing, camping, golf, cross-country motorcycling and playing the popular online game World of Warcraft with friends. He worked for Target Logistic Services in Greensboro in domestic operations.
"He was a private person," said Mr. Andrews' father, Bob Andrews of Greensboro. "But he had a fair number of friends. He had a good sense of humor."
Mr. Andrews is survived by his mother, Robin Joy King, of Castro Valley, his father, Robert Jean Andrews of Greensboro, his stepsister Rebecca Castillo of San Francisco, stepbrother Ricardo Castillo of Hawaii and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
"His family and friends cherish the time we had with our beloved Devon, and miss him very much," his father wrote in an obituary.
Mr. Andrews had requested to be cremated. Services have been held.
