DOLORES RAMIREZ

Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery followed funeral services Friday morning at the Chapel of H.F. Suhr Co. for Dolores Ramirez, 16, who died in Colma July 12.

Dolores was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert W. Harvey and the granddaughter of Rena Tesconi. A native of San Francisco, she was the sister of Mariann Thomas, Ronald, Jerry, Anthony, Paul and Linda Ramirez and James, Marlene, Noel and Dorise Harvey.

A Requiem Mass was offered for the repose of her soul at Holy Angels Church.

D.C. Teeners Are Killed In Accident
Three Victims In 90 M.P.H. Crash

Three 16-year-olds, two boys and a girl were killed instantly last night when a speeding pickup truck slammed into a utility pole on El Camino Real in Colma in front of a tombstone company.

The old-model truck hit the pole with such force that the motor was torn loose and hurtled 54 feet through the front door of the L. Bocci monument works at 7778 Mission Road. Other parts of the vehicle were scattered over a wide area.

Killed were Frank Damato Jr., 151 East Vista Avenue, Daly City; John Joseph McCarthy, 150 East Vista, and Dolores Ramirez, 555 D. Street, Colma.

One body was found lying between two marble lions flanking the entrance of a display area of monument markers. The other two bodies had to be pried loose from the wreckage entangled around the pole.

Young Damato was thrown out, the officers said, but the other two occupants were crushed inside the wreckage. It was necessary, the patrolmen reported to the truck on its wheels and pull the wreckage apart to get the victims out.

All were dead on arrival at Peninsula Hospital.

Patrol Sgt. Roy Edwards said there have been many accidents at that location. “I’ll bet I’ve investigated 50 accidents where cars have hit that pole,” he said.

Frank Damato, was a sophomore at Jefferson High School. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Damato and three brothers, Michael, Ralph and Danny. He was a star swimmer on the Jefferson school team and had set numerous records.

McCarthy was a junior at Jefferson high and is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene McCarthy and a sister, Linda.

Dolores Ramirez is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Ramirez and 10 brothers and sisters.

The two boys were taking the girl home when the crash occurred.
