Youth Electrocuted In Freak Accident
Kenneth Stuber, a 17 year old Daly City youth, was electrocuted last Wednesday night when he climbed a power pole to get a better look at a drag race which never was held.
Stuber went with five other youths to Brotherhood Way near Lake Merced Boulevard to watch the drag races usually held on Friday, which they heard had been moved up to Wednesday because of the holiday.
At the edge of the San Francisco Golf Course, Stuber climbed a power pole and about halfway up encountered a large insulator. As he tried to climb higher, he caused the guy wire to shake and sway and it contacted a 4000 vole wire 25 feet above the ground.
His body acted as a near perfect ground by being in contact with the guy wire above and below the insulator, according o PG&E.
“We heard a bussing sound momentarily and then Kenneth fell to the ground,” one youth said.
