Woman Dies in Accident

An elderly Daly City woman in Mary’s Help Hospital’s intensive care unit nearly three and a half hours after she had been admitted for treatment of injuries suffered in an auto-pedestrian accident shortly before 11:30 a.m. Monday.

The woman, Anna Allaria, 73, 280 Lake Merced Boulevard, became the city’s third traffic-connected fatality and the second pedestrian to die of injuries in Daly City this year.

According to police reports, Mrs. Allaria had been crossing the street at Lake Merced Boulevard and Belmar Drive, carrying a bag of groceries from the Westlake Shopping Center, when she was struck down by a car driven by Ivy F. Sharkey, 335 Coronado Avenue, Daly City.

Mrs. Allaria, police said, was walking from east to west and looking towards the south when the auto, approaching from the north, hit her, scattering groceries around the intersection

The incident is still under investigation.
