VIOLENT CRASH ON FREEWAY
In a grinding freeway crash so violent that it fused metal together, a Daly City father of two was killed.
Barry Wesley Beare, 25, of 444 Eighty-ninth Street, Daly City, was killed instantly when he crashed into a concrete pillar beneath the Washington Street over-crossing going an estimated 100 miles per hour.
The accident occurred at 8:10 p.m. Sunday night as Beare was speeding south on Junipero Serra Freeway.
Witnesses told California Highway Patrolman that a car moved in the lane ahead of him in an apparent legal move.
Beare swung to the right, lost control of the car and it slammed against a huge concrete pillar with such force that it literally wrapped itself around it. Bits of wreckage were strewn for several yards.
The vehicle was taken to the wrecking storage yard on Hill Street in two huge pieces where it was the scene of attention to several motorists Monday and Tuesday.
Beare, a parking attendant, is survived by his wife, Leslie and two sons, aged two and four.
